Running the ERM Service

In order to process ERM documents, the doc-link ERM Capture Service must be running.  If the service is not running, documents will remain in the ERM input source(s) until the service is turned on. There may be times, however, when you want to stop the ERM service.

While the doc-link ERM Capture Service is running:

  1. When ERM detects a file to be processed, file information is displayed on the History tab of the ERM Input Source Processing section in Service Monitor (Service Monitor > doc-link ERM Service > Management > ERM Input Source Processing > History).
    1. The file status is set to 'Pending'.
    2. As soon as ERM begins processing, the file status is updated to 'Processing'.
  2. When ERM successfully processes a file, the file status updates to 'Processed'.
    1. The processed document is then displayed in the appropriate Documents sub-folder (i.e., Complete, Incomplete, Rejected, Pre-Indexed).
    2. processed file is moved to the Archive folder, as defined on the Service Monitor > doc-link ERM Service > Management > Service Configuration > Advanced tab.
  3. When ERM is unable to process a file, the file status is updated to ‘Error’ and the file is moved to the Reject folder, as defined on the Service Monitor > doc-link ERM Service > Management > Service Configuration > Advanced tab.
    1. To review why a file is in error, click on the corresponding row in the grid of the active ERM input source and review the Properties information in the lower section of the window.
    2. Click on Reject Info to identify the problem with the file.
    3. You can reprocess ERM error files, once the errors have been corrected. For more information about reprocessing ERM error files, click here.
