  5. If the source file is from a Unix-based system, check the corresponding box.

PCL codes in a template allow for a high degree of control in placement of the text on the page. In order to replicate this functionality, doc-link has been modified to allow advanced page formatting options. This option will cause text files processed through ERM to have PCL codes embedded at the top of the file.

Check the Enable advanced formatting options checkbox if you cannot line up text in the text file with a template. If your templates line up fine, do not check this option. Instead, doc-link will use the basic page formatting commands listed above. If you have any questions regarding how to use the advanced settings listed below contact doc-link Technical Support.

  1. Top Margin (lines) – Specifies the number of lines to use for the top margin, giving the ability to shift the text up or down.
  2. Left Margin (cols) – Specifies the number of columns to use for the left margin, giving the ability to shift the text left or right.
  3. Vertical Motion Index – Provides fine control of the vertical spacing between lines of text in 1/48 inch units.
  4. Horizontal Motion Index – Provides fine control of the horizontal spacing between characters in 1/120 inch units.
  5. Primary Typeface – Uses PCL commands to select the font.
  6. Stroke Weight – Determines how light or dark (bold) the font is. May not produce consistent results with all fonts. For example, in some cases light and medium type will look the same while bold and black types will look the same.
  7. Direct PCL Commands – Allows raw PCL to be inserted after the PCL commands automatically generated from the above settings, so you can override previous settings and/or enhance the page layout. Use with caution!
