DocLink Full Text Capture Service

Full Text Capture provides user's the ability to search documents based on text contained within them. When you query documents using DocLink's full-text inquiry feature, the system will examine all the words in every configured document type as it tries to match the provided search criteria.

The configuration of Full Text Capture requires:

  1. SQL Server Full-Text Capture feature is installed (db server).
  2. Install ifilters corresponding to the type of documents you will be capturing in DocLink. They should be installed on the server that the DocLink Full Text Capture service is running on, typically the application server.
    1. There are a number of 3rd party ifilters (free and paid) that can be found on the internet for use with PDF files.
    2. Microsoft Office should be installed on the application server. Office will provide the necessary ifilters for the document types it supports (docx, xlsx, etc.).

If MS Office is not installed, then you can locate and install the latest filter pack you can find offered by Microsoft.

    3. You can get/install any number of ifilters. There are ifilters for all different file types. In addition to PDF and MS Office files, you can find ifilters for (to name a few):
      • CAD drawings
      • Open Office documents
      • Custom file ifilters (these are ones you pay for)
  3. TIFF images will be evaluated through the DocLink embedded OCR engine.
