DocLink Error Log Locations

DocLink log files are located in the following directories:

  1. All service related events (Cloud, ERM, Indexing, Import, Output Manager, and Support) can be found in the Service Monitor under their respective service logs folder.  They can also be found in the Application and DocLink logs in the Windows® Event Viewer.
  2. The dlfs.logs found in the %Program Files%\Altec\doc-link3x folder will trap most DocLink VB errors. The dlfs.log is the main log which will contain a full record of all errors, dlfs-MON.log will contain only errors occurring on Monday, dlfs-TUE.log will contain Tuesday's errors etc. These daily logs will get over written as needed and can manifest on the server and on the client PC where the Barcode application is installed.
  3. To troubleshoot Decollator, the log can be found in the %Program Files%\Altec\doc-link3x\log folder.
  4. dlerrorlog.txt in C:\Program Files\Altec\doc-link3x will trap most DocLink .NET errors. So for example, Smart Client errors will be written to this log. The log can manifest on both the server and client PC. The location where this file gets created depends on the component causing the error.
  5. dlerrorlog.txt in %Program Files%\Altec\Applauncher will catch errors that relate to initiating the Smart Client, i.e. – logins, updates and file downloads.
  6. dlerrorlog.txt in %Program Files%\Altec\Applauncher\3.2.x.x will catch errors that relate to faulting applications within that folder, i.e. - Altec.DocumentViewer.exe, Altec.IntegrationEnabler.exe.
