New/Edit Screen

Make sure you have the application screen you want to enable open and there are field values entered on the screen before proceeding.

  1. On the Quick-link New/Edit Screen window, enter or change the Screen Name.

  2. Click the Select Screen... button to launch the Quick-link Windows Identifier. This tool provides a means for Quick-link to identify and link to various window objects found on a selected screen.

  3. Once the Quick-link Windows Identifier correctly identifies a screen, values will be inserted in the Screen Caption, Windows ID, Windows Class Name and Process Name fields.

  4. If the Windows Class Name can change each time the screen is opened and closed, click the Dynamic checkbox (see note below for more information).

  5. Under Identification Options enter the text you wish to search for in the window's title bar and choose whether the window caption Begins with, Contains or Ends with your selected text. Note by default the value entered in this field will match the text displayed in the Screen Caption field.

Be sure to modify the text in this field so that it is generic for all transactions.  For example, some invoice/voucher entry screens will display a batch number in the title bar, since the same batch number will not apply to all instances, modify the text so it does not contain a batch reference.

  1. Click the Test button to test your settings.

  1. Continue to adjust options on this window until a positive test result is returned.

To test if a Windows Class Name is dynamic, close and reopen the application screen you have configured. When the screen reopens, click the Test button on the quick-link New/Edit Screen window. If originally a Window Found! message appeared, but now after reopening the application you see a Window Not Found! message, chances are your Windows Class Name is dynamically changing each time you exit and re-enter the application.  You must check the Dynamic checkbox to compensate for this change.

Expand the + sign next to your screen name in the folder list and click on Field Mappings to continue.
