Listed on this dialog are identification references to all currently opened windows on your desktop. Note: if you are configuring an HTML application the list will display only opened browser windows. Click the Refresh button if you open or close any windows, the Current Open Windows list will redisplay with any updates.
To identify a specific object (such as a window, field or button) you have two options:
You can browse the Current Open Windows list and select the relevant reference. Expand the + sign next to each application name for detailed information regarding controls, and other elements found on each application screen.
Or, you can let the Quick-link Window Identifier find the correct reference for you:
Click and drag the icon at the top of the window onto the application screen you wish to link. As you move the icon over your application window you will notice different window elements (objects) highlighted with a black box and values listed in the Windows ID, Base Module and Window Text fields change.
You can use the Windows Identifier to identify the application screen, application field or button.
The unique references for a selected object will populate the Windows ID, Base Module and Window Text fields.
Click OK to return to the New/Edit dialog and continue configuring Quick-link.
If you cannot locate the window object you wish to configure, click the box to Display Hidden windows in the Current Open Windows list and try again.
In order for Quick-link to integrate with a specific screen, the Quick-link Windows Identifier must be able to capture the screen and key properties ( properties that uniquely identify the document). If the screen and key properties are not recognizable, Quick-link is incompatible with your business application.
