Stamps are permanent electronic annotations that can be added to document images while in the DocLink Viewer. They differ from other annotations in that they become a permanent part of an image when applied and cannot be changed, hidden or deleted.
In DocLink there are two distinct kinds of stamps:
Rubber stamps are the generic variety that can be configured for a number of different purposes. For example, you can configure rubber stamps to represent electronic versions of 'Approved for Payment', 'Paid', and 'Void' stamps commonly used to mark business documents.
Distribution stamps are custom windows included in the category of DocLink Smart Forms. They are designed specifically to index account distribution information on an invoice prior to entry into the accounting system. Stamp data can also be automatically imported into the accounting package. Click here for Smart Forms.
Rubber stamps can be configured and saved to retain color when applied to a document in DocLink: Users can apply a 'color' stamp to a black and white, or color TIFF.
If a color stamp is applied to a black and white document (Group 4 compressed TIFF), the page to which the stamp is applied will be promoted from a color depth of 1 bpp, to 8 bpp (LZW compressed TIFF).
If the page receiving the 'color' stamp is part of a multi-page document, only the page receiving the stamp is saved as 8 bpp, the rest of the document remains saved with a color depth of 1 bpp, thereby reducing the impact the color stamp has to overall TIFF file size.
