Configure an ERM Printer

There are two types of printers you can configure for ERM, one that produces no physical print job and one that does. In addition, with ERM you can process the following types of input files:

  1. XPS - XML Paper Specification (XPS) is the default document format for recent Windows versions, (Windows 10 workstations and Windows Server 2016+ servers). On these machines, printer drivers produce XPS.
  2. EMF - Enhanced metafile (EMF) is the default data type with most Windows based programs prior to Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016. With EMF, the printed document is altered into a metafile format.
  3. PDF - Portable Data file (PDF) is a common file type used in just about every form of business. The captured file will be stored in DocLink as a PDF.
  4. Text
  5. PCL - A document description language used by Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printers.

If you are processing a spool file from a windows based business application, you will configure ERM to process XPS or EMF.

If you are capturing output from a UNIX system you will be processing Text files.

ERM Processing with PCL is controlled via a product key and is used primarily with customers that have upgraded from earlier versions of DocLink.
