The Database Connection String Editor

DocLink creates a SQL user account that is utilized in the connection string to connect to the DocLink database.

To facilitate changing this connection string, the DocLink Application Components and Remote Server installations include an executable called DB Password Administrator (a.k.a. - DBPwdTool.exe). This file is placed in the %Program Files (x86)%\Altec\doc-link3x directory and is advertised through a desktop shortcut.

The editor will allow you to:

1. Change the password for the default SQL login.
2. Change the login to utilize a different SQL account (which will require changing permissions on tables, views and stored procedures).
3. Change the connection string to utilize Integrated Security (also known as Trusted Security).
