For each smart form created, it must be hosted in at least one of three locations: the Smart Client, the document viewer or the search results. For the Smart Client and (document) Viewer, a new tab can be configured to show the smart form in their respective locations.
Each smart form hosted in the Smart Client can be setup with configuration of a new tab including:
Tab Caption – The visible name (label) as seen on the Smart Client tab.
Smart Form Hosting Control – Control that provides the hosting container for the Smart Form. (e.g. – toolbar, sections, viewer)
![]() |
Many smart forms can use the same tab if they are using the same host control. When this occurs, a drop-down list becomes available to toggle between the many smart forms on that tab. |
Each smart form hosted in the Viewer can be setup with configuration of a new tab including:
Icon – A unique icon to go along with the unique tab caption name. Click browse to choose an icon.
Tab Caption – The visible name (label) as seen on the Smart Client tab.
Tooltip – A description used when mousing over the tab to aid users.
Smart Form Hosting Control – Control that provides the hosting container for the smart form. (e.g. – toolbar, sections, viewer)
Use custom viewer host control – Check the box to choose a custom viewer host control.
This setting applies to legacy smart forms that use custom UI hosting controls different than those provided out-of-the-box with the Smart Form Toolkit.
